Embark on the ultimate Kilimanjaro adventure with our 8 Days Lemosho Route trek. This extended itinerary allows for a more gradual ascent, enhancing acclimatization and increasing your chances of reaching the summit. The Lemosho Route is known for its breathtaking landscapes, including lush rainforests, alpine meadows, and stark high-altitude deserts. Over the course of eight days, you’ll experience the diverse beauty of Mount Kilimanjaro, culminating in a triumphant sunrise at Uhuru Peak.
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Londorossi Gate
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to Londorossi Gate. After completing the park registration, you’ll be driven to the Lemosho trailhead. Begin your trek through the lush rainforest to your first camp at Mti Mkubwa. Enjoy a hearty dinner and settle in for the night.
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp
After a nutritious breakfast, start your trek from Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp. This day’s hike takes you through the rainforest and onto the Shira Plateau. Experience the stunning scenery and panoramic views as you ascend. Arrive at Shira 1 Camp for lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
Continue your trek from Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp. The hike involves a gradual ascent across the Shira Plateau, offering spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape. Enjoy a packed lunch along the way and reach Shira 2 Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp
Depart Shira 2 Camp and head towards Barranco Camp, located in the Barranco Valley. This day’s trek takes you through varied terrain, including the challenging Barranco Wall. After a scenic climb and descent, arrive at Barranco Camp, where you’ll enjoy dinner and rest for the night.
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
After breakfast, trek from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp. The day involves climbing up the Barranco Wall and descending into the Karanga Valley. Enjoy the stunning views and diverse landscapes. Arrive at Karanga Camp in the afternoon for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Start your trek from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp, located on the high-altitude desert. The day involves a steady ascent, with Barafu Camp being the final stop before the summit attempt. Prepare for your upcoming climb and enjoy an early dinner before resting.
Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and Descend to Mweka Camp
Begin your summit attempt around midnight, climbing through the night to reach Uhuru Peak at sunrise. Celebrate your achievement with breathtaking views from the highest point on Kilimanjaro. Descend to Mweka Camp, where you’ll have a celebratory dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Departure
After a final breakfast at Mweka Camp, descend to Mweka Gate. Complete the park formalities and receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to Arusha for a farewell dinner and overnight stay or head to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight.
